FAMILY SUCCESS PROGRAM

Goal Setting & Navigating Resources

Family Liaisons are trained in Mobility Mentoring to assess and help parents set life goals and develop an action plan. As families demonstrate needs, Family Liaisons help to locate resources for the family often using our public database.

Educational Opportunities

We host monthly Educational Workshops for families covering topics such as Financial Empowerment, goal setting, parenting skills and career readiness.

Essential Baskets

Baskets containing toiletries, cleaning supplies, seasonal items, food items and a grocery gift card were distributed to each family three times throughout the year (fall, winter and spring).

Financial Support Request

Family Liaisons can request up to $1,000 in financial assistance for their partnering families based on needs to help the family break through barriers to success.

School Supplies and Holiday Help

Backpacks filled with school supplies as well as holiday presents and meals were provided to families.

WEEKEND FOOD PACKS

We coordinate, raise funds, collect donations, and provide volunteers to prepare food bags for children and families in food-insecure households. Each bag provides a child with food over weekends and holidays when they lack access to free breakfast and lunch at their school.

Meet Paulette! She is a new family partner who just completed her orientation into the Family Success Program in May. While at orientation Paulette told her Family Liaison John a sad and all too familiar story. After losing their housing and the ability to pay for a hotel, Paulette had to make the tough decision to leave her children with family while she was homeless, trying to hold down her job and secure their future. She wanted to take on a second job but was struggling without a safe and comfortable place to rest each night. Being away from her children was breaking her heart but she didn't know what to do.Upon hearing her story Paulette's Family Liaison, John, immediately jumped into action. He began dialing local hotels, looking for a room for Paulette. For over an hour he made call after call until he finally secured her a room. After orientation, John loaded up Paulette and her things into his car and drove her to the hotel. A Families Forward staff member was also able to accompany them to help get Paulette settled and pay for her room. Now, after four hard weeks apart, Paulette and her three children were reunited thanks to the support of our Family Success Program! She sent this message, "I was able to be at my kids' doctors appointments and see and love on them after missing them for 4 weeks. I am crying tears of joy."#mentoringmatters #housing #supportlocal #economicmobility #movingforward #volunteer #family ... See MoreSee Less
