On behalf of the entire community served by Families Forward Charlotte, thank you for your continued support in ensuring our families have the care they need to work towards long-term stability.
While these are very confusing, anxiety-driven times for all of us, it highlights the importance of providing mentor-ship, education and essential needs to local underprivileged families. Since 2017 our organization has served over 50 families with plans to serve an additional 50 families next year. Although it will require an adjustment to our strategy, we will not let these unprecedented times stop our drive and determination to provide economic mobility and support to the families we serve.
We currently have 25 families in our program that we anticipate needing an average of $900 a month in financial support for living expenses (rent, utilities, food, and other vital bills) due to hours being significantly cut, or loss of job and income. This amount is above and beyond the limited financial support we budgeted to provide this year. We hear the desperation in each voice with the lack of childcare available, goals being stripped away and jobs cut. Yes, some will eventually see the COVID-19 stimulus money within a few months when checks are mailed while others are not eligible for the money at all. Many are fearful they will eventually lose their home.
Your community needs your support now more than ever. We ask that you please support this important mission by clicking the button below. Our goal is to raise an additional $45,000 in order to care for those in our program over the next two months. Our family liaisons (mentors) are working with each partner family on how best to utilize the stimulus funds and unemployment (for those who were eligible). In addition, we are providing financial information on our website to not only the families in our program but the local community.
We have received some generous contributions from some of you already – monetary donations and gift cards that are greatly needed and appreciated – but we have not received local relief funding so we are relying on your generosity.
We are very grateful for your support in these uncertain times! Carrie Christian
